  • Promise is an online service that makes it easy to apply for debt relief and receive money off your bill. Promise works with JXN Water to distribute relief funds to Jackson residents and businesses who believe their bill is inaccurate.

  • The People's Relief Campaign is a one-time debt relief program that applies towards your past due water and wastewater balance from before December 1, 2022 and those who believe their bill is inaccurate. JXN Water is offering the People’s Relief Campaign as an opportunity to start fresh and lower your past due water and wastewater balance if you believe your water bill is inaccurate.

  • To be eligible for debt relief, you must meet ALL the following criteria:

    • Be a JXN Water customer
    • Have past due water or wastewater debt from before December 1, 2022
    • Believe you have an inaccurate bill
  • Federal funding for providing assistance to utility customers across the county is a new program funding by the US Department of Health and Human Services. This pilot program has been minimally used by many states and an aggressive debt relief program in Jackson may permit more Federal funding to come to Jackson from states that have not implemented similar programs. JXN Water's goal is to maximize use of all available Federal funding in every aspect of the water system operations. This program has the added benefit of removing large outstanding balances from customer bills, relieving customers of the burden and stress of these aging, unpaid balances.

  • No, there are no charges for applying for debt relief. There are no fees whatsoever. Any remaining balance after debt relief is applied is the responsibility of the account owner.

  • Any water or wastewater past due charges accrued prior to December 1, 2022. The sanitation portion of your bill is not covered.

  • If you receive confirmation that your debt relief application is completed and approved, you will see a congratulations screen and you will be informed about how much debt relief you received on the confirmation screen. You will also have the option to send yourself this confirmation receipt as a text message.

  • If you receive confirmation that your debt relief application is completed and approved, your new balance will be shown on your next bill. Any remaining past due balance, garbage/sanitation charges, and/or current bill balance are the responsibility of the account owner and must be paid to JXN Water.

  • All payments must be paid to JXN Water. You can pay your bill here. Promise is here to help JXN Water distribute eligible relief funds only.

  • Yes, if you apply for debt relief with Promise you can still get any available community-based grants or other relief that you are otherwise qualified for.
